The proposed trial is to focus on the eMBB pillar of the 5G technology to assess Wireless BroadBand Service Delivery Path to Gbps from conventional Mbps data rates by leveraging the existing Cell Tower and Fiber assets of the Operators installed base supporting 5G NR Macro level, Small Cell and In-Building /DAS deployments.
The trial seeks to learn the issues involved in the pragmatic scalable 5G NR deployment scenarios applicable for unique Indian characteristics like high subscriber density/per sq.km, high concrete density/per sq.km, high vegetation density/per sq.km, and tropical conditions.
Keeping in-line with the Digital India initiative, 5G trial would also focus on mMTC pillar-based Applications involving IOT such as Smart City verticals like Smart Villages, Smart Agriculture, Distance, Education and Telemedicine, Smart Grid, Smart Traffic, Smart Surveillance, E-Governance and m-Governance.
The proposed 5G NR network targets the Coverage, Capacity, Connectivity, Latency and Reliability aspects.
5G NR test focus would involve the following 7 Major KPIs
Road map of 5G technology w.r.t Standards evolution e.g. 3GPP Rel-15, Rel-16 would be tested during 2018, 2019 and 2020 covering the 7 Major KPIs as listed below
